How to Use the Tournament Generator

1. Enter a tournament name and select your format: Single Elimination, Double Elimination, or Round Robin.
2. Add participant names one at a time using the input field, or switch to Pairings mode for first-round matchups only.
3. Optionally shuffle the seeding order for random matchups.
4. Click Generate to create the tournament bracket, or Create first-round pairings in Pairings mode.
5. Click a player's name in each match to advance them as the winner when running a full tournament.
6. Use Undo to reverse the last result if you make a mistake.

Tips for Using the Tournament Generator

• Confirm the format and participant spelling before generating the bracket.
• Use Pairings mode when you only need first-round matchups; use the full builder to run later rounds.
• Shuffle seeds only when the group agrees that matchups should be randomized.
• Lock a pairing after announcing it so a later reshuffle does not change that matchup.
• Export the SVG after the final reshuffle so the displayed pairings match the handout.

Multiple tournament formats

Single elimination is the classic one-and-done format. Double elimination gives every participant a second chance through the losers bracket, with a Grand Final and optional reset. Round robin lets everyone play everyone and ranks by points (3 for win, 1 for draw).

Automatic bye handling

If the number of players isn't a power of 2 (e.g., 5 or 6 players), the bracket automatically assigns byes. Top-seeded players receive byes and advance to the next round without playing, just like in professional tournaments.

First-round Pairings mode

Use Pairings when the group needs fair opening matchups but does not need a complete bracket yet. You can preserve entered seed order, lock announced pairings, reshuffle the remaining field, copy the result, or export an SVG handout.

Double elimination details

The losers bracket receives eliminated players from each winners bracket round. The losers bracket champion faces the winners bracket champion in the Grand Final. If the losers bracket champion wins, a Grand Final Reset match determines the overall champion.
