Quick answer

What is the Player Picker?

Let a spinning wheel decide instead of arguing about it. Add names directly in Player Picker or reuse the browser-local Table you already have. Pick whenever the group needs a fair random choice, with the shared Table still available across compatible BoardScore tools.

How to Use the Player Picker

  1. Add the people or options you want to use in Player Picker, or open Set Up Table for the full shared roster editor.
  2. Make sure at least two entries are listed.
  3. Press Pick a player and wait for the wheel to settle.
  4. Read the selected name shown beneath the wheel.
  5. For multi-round play, open Advanced and enable Remove after pick before picking again.

What You Can Use It For

  • Choosing who takes the first turn in a board game
  • Picking teams or assigning roles fairly
  • Deciding who deals, who is banker, or who reads the rules
  • Classroom name picking for questions and activities
  • Choosing between restaurants, films or any list of options

Tips for Using the Player Picker

  • Set up the shared Table once so the wheel can reuse the same players across compatible tools.
  • For multi-round games, enable Remove after pick when the winner should not be picked again.
  • Use the advanced Table editor only when you need to change names, order, or the saved group.

How the wheel stays fair

The winner is chosen by a random number generator before the animation begins, and the wheel is then rotated to land on that name. Each entry occupies an equal slice, so adding more names lowers everyone's chance evenly. The spin is presentation only and cannot change the outcome.

Using it for things other than players

Nothing about the tool is specific to games. Because entries are just text, the wheel works equally well for chores, prize draws, lunch spots, or any shortlist where you want an impartial choice. The saved list makes it convenient for decisions you repeat often.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the random player selection work?

A winner is chosen by a random number generator before the wheel starts moving, and the wheel is then rotated so it lands on that name.

How many players can the shared Table hold?

Up to 64 players, with a minimum of two for a wheel spin. Case-insensitive duplicate names are removed, and the wheel divides the remaining entries into equal slices.

Where do my Player Picker names come from?

Player Picker automatically loads the browser-local Table when one exists, and you can also add, edit or remove names directly on the page. Set Up Table remains available for full roster management across compatible BoardScore tools.

Can I use the Player Picker for things other than players?

Yes. Entries are just text, so it works equally well for chores, prize draws, restaurants or any shortlist where you want an impartial choice.
