Race Picker
Add racers, pick a playful theme and race length, then watch a fair animated race choose the winner.
What is the Race Picker?
Turn a random pick into a tiny sporting event. Add up to eight racers directly or pull names from your shared Table, choose a playful racer theme and a race length, then watch every racer jostle for the lead before one crosses the finish line. The winner is drawn fairly before the animation starts, so the race is pure theatre.
How to Use the Race Picker
- Add at least two racers, or import names from your shared Table.
- Choose a racer theme such as cars, horses, beavers, or snails.
- Pick a Short, Medium, Long, or Custom race length.
- Press Start race and watch the positions change down the track.
- Celebrate the winner, then choose Race again or start a New race.
What You Can Use It For
- Choosing who goes first with extra drama
- Picking a winner for party games and raffles
- Settling friendly debates with a photo finish
- Classroom picks that keep everyone watching
- Family game nights that need a laugh
Tips for Using the Race Picker
- Import your shared Table roster instead of retyping names for every race.
- Use a Short race for quick decisions and a Long race when the table wants drama.
- Race again with the same setup when the group demands a rematch; the draw is fresh every time.
How the race stays fair
The winner is chosen with the site's random-number helper before the starting flag drops, exactly like the Player Picker wheel. The animation only decides how the race looks: random pace changes shuffle the positions mid-race while the predetermined winner finishes strong. The racer theme is visual only and never changes anyone's odds.
How long is each race?
Short races last about four seconds, Medium about seven, and Long about eleven. Custom races let you choose anything from three to fifteen seconds, so a race can be a quick dash or a full photo finish without ever becoming an accidental marathon.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Race Picker fair?
Yes. The winner is drawn with the site's random-number helper before the animation starts, so every racer has an equal chance. The race itself is presentation only and cannot change the outcome.
Do racer themes change who wins?
No. Cars, horses, beavers, rockets, boats, snails, otters, and ducks are visual only. Pick whichever theme makes the table laugh; the odds stay exactly even.
How many players can race at once?
Up to eight racers, which keeps every lane readable on a phone. Add names directly or import your shared Table roster, and use Player Picker when a larger group needs a simple draw.
How long does a race take?
Short races run about four seconds, Medium about seven, and Long about eleven. Custom races can be set anywhere from three to fifteen seconds, and reduced-motion devices skip straight to the winner.
